BEDFORD, Mass. –September 20, 2006 – In conjunction with Virtual Iron Software’s launch of its Channel One Program, Continental Resources, Inc. (CRI), a leading provider of comprehensive I.T. solutions, has announced its enrollment in the program. This move broadens CRI’s diverse portfolio of I.T. solutions and adds Linux virtualization capabilities. CRI was specifically targeted by Virtual Iron Software to sell and support their new platform due out in early October. The platform will be the first truly enterprise-ready virtualization solution available in the IT marketplace. “We are extremely pleased to have been targeted for membership in the Virtual Iron Channel One Program. This is clearly an indication that vendors know CRI as an expert IT solutions provider. The program allows us to promote our technical knowledge and relationship with Virtual Iron Software to our customers,” said Kevin McCann, Vice President of Continental Resources.
As an exclusive member of the Virtual Iron Channel One Program, CRI will have strategic access to the following resources: · Dedicated account support Adding Virtual Iron’s platform allows CRI to provide its end users with a solution for executing data center assessments, physical to virtual migration, business continuity planning, capacity planning and utilization, implementation and deployment, as well as policy-based automation development – all at an attractive price point. The Virtual Iron platform combines advanced virtualization and policy-based management capabilities with an open source hypervisor derived from the Xen community open source project. It takes full advantage of new hardware-assisted virtualization from Intel and AMD and provides support for unmodified 32- and 64-bit Linux and Windows operating systems, as well as for SMP and very large memory (96GB). Virtual Iron is purpose-built for production-class workloads and supports hundreds of physical servers and thousands of virtual servers. It automates many time-intensive manual tasks such as provisioning new servers and moving capacity to handle dynamic workloads. The software also monitors physical systems and automatically responds to availability issues. These capabilities enable users to streamline data center management while dramatically reducing capital and operating expenses.
